• Dr. Z.S. Meharwal is the Executive Director and Head of Cardiac Surgery, Heart Transplantation, and Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) program at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (FEHI).
• With over 32 years of experience as a Cardiac Surgeon, Dr. Meharwal has successfully performed more than 30,000 surgeries, including complex heart procedures and left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantations.
• He is a pioneer in introducing new cardiac surgery techniques in India, contributing significantly to advancements in heart surgery.
• Dr. Meharwal completed his MBBS, MS, and MCh from King George Medical College, Lucknow, and has been affiliated with prestigious institutions like King’s College Hospital, London, UK, and G.B. Pant Hospital, Delhi.
• He is deeply involved in training and education, serving as the Programme Director of DNB Cardiothoracic Surgery at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute. He has trained numerous Indian and international surgeons, many of whom are now practicing independently.

• In 2008, Dr. Meharwal entered the Limca Book of Records for performing Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery (CABG) on a 94-year-old patient, the oldest individual to undergo this procedure.
• He is a member of several prestigious medical organizations, including the Indian Association of Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeons, the Cardiological Society of India, the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, and the Asian Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery.
