Dr. Dinesh Nayak is a renowned Neurologist and Epileptologist with more than 38 years of experience in the field of neurology.
He specializes in video-EEG monitoring, pre-surgical evaluation for refractory epilepsy, vagal nerve stimulation, and intracranial EEG monitoring.
Dr. Nayak is proficient in both temporal and extratemporal epilepsy surgeries, including the use of subdural grids and stereo-EEG depth electrodes for intracranial EEG.
He has successfully conducted pre-surgical evaluations for over 2,000 patients with drug-resistant epilepsy.
His academic background includes an MBBS (1986) and MD in General Medicine (1991) from Coimbatore Medical College, and a DM in Neurology (1995) from SCTIMST, Trivandrum.
Dr. Nayak completed a Fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at King’s College Hospital, London, in 2003, and received advanced training in intracranial EEG and video-EEG there between 2000 and 2003.
He was honored with the S.M. Munirathnam Chetty Gold Medal for securing the highest marks in his MD finals and received the Dr. PN Berry Scholarship for epileptology training in the UK.
Passionate about teaching, Dr. Nayak is actively involved in mentoring postgraduate students and frequently organizes EEG and video-EEG workshops across India.
In 2010, he established a comprehensive epilepsy surgery program in Chennai and has since overseen more than 200 successful epilepsy surgeries.
Dr. Nayak has published numerous research papers in prestigious national and international journals and has received several best paper awards at conferences.
He also contributes academically as a former editorial board member of the Annals of the Indian Academy of Neurology.
