Dr. Shailendra Lalwani is a highly experienced Gastroenterology surgeon, specializing in liver transplantation, with over 23 years of dedicated service in the healthcare field.
He has successfully performed rare and complex liver transplant procedures, including combined kidney-liver transplants and dual lobe liver transplants, where the liver is retrieved from two donors.
His expertise extends to groundbreaking surgeries like a liver transplant for the smallest child in India, weighing just 4.5 kg.
Dr. Lalwani has made notable contributions to cosmetic donor surgeries, assisted in laparoscopic donor hepatectomy, and performed Small Incision Donor Hepatectomy, reflecting his innovation in donor procedures.
Over the course of his career, he has performed more than 1,000 liver transplant surgeries, encompassing a wide range of procedures. Dr. Lalwani’s academic journey includes completing his MBBS from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, in 2001, followed by an MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Ajmer, in 2006.
He further pursued a DNB in Gastroenterology from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, in 2011 and is now a recognized mentor and guide for medical students.
