Dr. Pradeep Chowbey is a globally renowned pioneer in laparoscopic surgery, with over 47 years of surgical experience.
He has trained more than 20,000 surgeons worldwide in minimally invasive techniques, demonstrating his expertise and leadership in the field.
His expertise lies in Minimal Access, Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery and performing gallbladder surgery, Scarless Neck Surgery and many more.
Dr. Chowbey was among the first to perform laparoscopic cholecystectomy in North India and the first to introduce MAFT (Minimally Invasive Fistula Technology) in the Asia Pacific region.
His career has been dedicated to developing, evaluating, and promoting Minimal Access, Metabolic, and Bariatric Surgery in India and the Asian subcontinent.
Under his leadership, his institute at Max Healthcare became the first in India to receive Center of Excellence accreditation for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery and Hernia Surgery from the Surgical Review Corporation, USA (2011-2014).
With over 98,300 surgeries performed, Dr. Chowbey has been recognized in the Guinness Book of Records (1997) and the Limca Book of Records for 20 consecutive years (2000–2020) as the leading endoscopic surgeon for the most minimal access surgeries.
He completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, NMDC, Jagdalpur, in 1974, and his MS in General Surgery from Rani Durgavati Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur, in 1977
After this, he completed various fellowships like FMAS, FALS, FIAGES, FACS and many more.
He has authored over 300 original scientific papers published in national and international journals and has contributed chapters to prestigious medical textbooks, including publications from Springer, Jaypee, and Elsevier.
He is associated with many medical societies including the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG), the Association of Endoscopic Surgeons (AES), the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) and the International Association of Endocrine Surgeons (IAES).
